As storytellers we are fortunate enough to have tools to raise awareness on important issues and that’s exactly what photographer Benjamin Von Wong has done.
To raise awareness on the subject like plastic pollution by placing a beach mermaid on 10,000 plastic bottles.
To make this incredible project come to life, he managed to find someone who would let him borrow 10,000 plastic bottles for free (shipping included), recruited people willing to help him de-label and clean all those bottles, was offered a warehouse space to use, and so many other “coincidences” that helped bring this project into being.
The point of the whole shoot and its hashtag #MermaidsHatePlastic is to raise awareness for the incredibly boring topic of plastic pollution.
Here are the incredible images created from this project. Follow this link to find out more on Von Wong’s blog: http://blog.vonwong.com/mermaidplastic/
